7 years in boy scouts

10 in community service

I’ve always loved dedicating my time to non-profit work. Below you can find details about my most recent project, which renovated the desert section of a nature center. I’ve attached videos of the work and my final project report.

Day 1

4-22-23

Scouts were taught how to remove plants via shovels, provided by the Turtlerock Nature Center. We sheared down cacti, to ensure no one gets hurt, and fenced off the dangerous barbed cacti. Despite this, someone did end up getting cacti thorns stuck in their skin, which I was able to take care of handily, using my first aid kit and water to help remove the thorns. By the end of this workday, all invasive Coyote Brush was cleared, and scouts left with newfound knowledge in plant care.

Day 2

5-20-22

I led scouts to dig holes big enough to fit the 1 gallon plants we purchased. After this was done, we had to prep the hole by filling it partway with mulch, and then creating irrigation channels to ensure the soil would be suitable for the plants. Through this process, scouts gained a well-rounded education on what goes into creating a safe environment for plant life.
